Waxing FAQ

There is really no definite answer to this one. It depends on your hair growth cycles and each person's hair grows at a different rate. With each wax however, your hair will grow in much finer and slower.

At Nouveau Wax, we do not double dip on the bikini. We use a fresh, new stick for each application on the bikini area.

Yes you can, but know you will be more sensitive and we ask that you wear a clean tampon.

Yes you can, but please check with your doctor. Also, just like being on your period, being pregnant can leave you more sensitive.

The bikini wax is just the basic line of a bikini bathing suit, everything along the sides and top of the area. A Brazilian wax is everything from the top to the bottom including the anus area. There is something in between the two often referred to as the modified Brazilian or playboy wax. This is almost everything, but there is a small strip that is left at the top. The anus area is included in the modified Brazilian. Don't be shy, the best way to get exactly what you want to talk it over with your esthetician. They can help you decide what is best for you.

We use a soft, warm azulene wax for the larger body areas and a lavendar hard wax for some of the more sensitive areas, including bikini waxes.

If you have used a chemical peel or Alpha Hydroxy acid product in the area being waxed within the last 5 days prior to waxing. If you have used any type of Retin-A medications within the last 5 days prior to waxing. If you have used Accutane within the last year prior to getting waxed. If you have a sun burn or laser burn in the area to be waxed

Your First Wax Experience

Almost any area of the body can be waxed, but you must have at least 3-4 week's worth of hair growth for your first wax. A warm wax will be spread on the area to be waxed and either a cloth is pressed on top and then pulled off or a hardened wax will be pulled off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the wax, the hair and any dead skin cells leaving the area smooth. Your first wax may only last three weeks and you may notice your hair growing even sooner than that. This is because your hair grows in cycles, but with each wax you will notice your hair will grow in much finer and slower allowing more time in between waxes.

Does it hurt? Some areas are more sensitive than others and there maybe some slight discomfort, but with an experienced esthetician the discomfort will be minimal. Don't be shy, if you find it too uncomfortable, or have any questions, please stop the esthetician and let them know. We want you to be comfortable and happy with any service you receive.
